(1830-1912) Writer, iconic lesbian figure. “Adventures of Lucy Ann Lobdell, Female Hunter” (1855), “Lucy Ann Lobdell: Female Hunter of Delaware County,” hunted in Sullivan County.

Walter Meade

Journal-keeper, writer, photographer. “In the Catskill Mountains,” was born and lived all his life near Roxbury.

Ned Buntline

(1823-1886) Editor, writer, author of over 400 “dime” novels. Ned Buntline was also known as Edward Zane Carroll Judson. He was born in Stamford, New York. In 1872, he persuaded W. F. Cody (Buffalo Bill) to act in his play “The Scouts of the Plains,” which started Cody on his stage career.
