(1927-2014) Cartoonist. Brumsic Brandon Jr. was born in Washington, District of Columbia, and died in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He was the creator of “Luther,” a nationally syndicated comic strip. Mr. Brandon studied art at New York University and later resettled on Long Island in New York.

(1930-2014) Writer. Nathaniel Branden was born Nathan Blumenthal in Brampton, Ontario, and died In Los Angeles County, California. He lived in New York for awhile and received a master’s degree at New York University.

(1928-2014) Author. Norman Bridwell was born in Kokomo, Indiana, and died in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. He was the creator of “Clifford the Big Red Dog,” and he lived in New York City.

(1933-2014) Critic. Sacvan Bercovitch was born in Montreal, Canada, and died in Brookline, Massachusetts.

(1942-2014) Author. Fred Branfman was born in Manhattan, New York, and died in Budapest, Hungary.

(1915-1981) Novelist. Nathaniel Benchley was born in Newton, Massachusetts, and died in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of writer Robert Benchley and the father of writer Peter Benchley. He was a journalist for The New York Herald Tribune and Newsweek.

(1922-2014) Author. Elaine M. Brody was born in New York City and died in San Mateo, California. She authored the book, “Women In The Middle.”
