Description
Pen Parentis is a New York State 501c3 literary nonprofit incorporated in 2013 that provides resources to keep writers on creative track after they start a family. In addition to building a vibrant and inclusive online community, and hosting the popular The Pen Parentis Literary Salons in Manhattan (since 2009) and LA (since 2015), and sponsoring a generous annual writing fellowship for new parents (since 2010), the organization’s goals include public promotion of authors’ works, grants for child-care, inspirational panel discussions and support groups for authors who feel torn between family and creative genius, and ultimately, a writing center that partners with groups that provide drop-off children’s programming.
