(1840-1894) Novelist. Constance Fenimore Woolson visited in Cooperstown, New York with her relatives at various times. She graduated in 1858 from Madame Chegarary’s School, New York City.

Jonathan Williams

(1929-2008) Publisher, writer, poet. Jonathan Williams lived in Manhattan, New York, during the 1950s. Williams was the founder of the Jargon Society, a small publishing house.

William Ware

(1797-1852) Novelist. William Ware was a Unitarian minister who preached mainly in New York, and later in Massachusetts.

Malvin Wald

(1903-2008) Writer, novelist. Phyllis A. Whitney was known for writing mystery novels for young adults and children as well as for adults. She lived for many years in Staten Island, New York.

John Wallowitch

(1926-2007) Songwriter. John Wallowitch was a cabaret singer and songwriter in New York City. He wrote over a thousand songs.

Lois Wyse

(1926-2007) Advertising executive, author. Lois Wyse and her husband founded the Wyse Advertising agency in Cleveland, Ohio. Wyse authored more than 60 books.
