(1840-1904) Writer. William H. H. Murray wrote a series of articles and books which popularized the Adirondack Mountains. He was from Schuyler County in New York State.

Carson McCullers

(1917-1967) Writer, playwright, novelist. Carson McCullers was born in Columbus, Georgia, attended Columbia University in Manhattan, New York, and lived and died in Nyack, New York.

John D MacDonald

(1916-1986) Novelist. Writer of numerous mystery novels, most notably the Travis McGee series which began in 1964 with “The Deep Blue Good-Bye” and ended in 1985 with “The Lonely Silver Rain.”
