(1897-1962) Writer. William Faulkner wrote novels, short stories and plays. He stayed at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. In 1987 the United States Postal Service issued its sixth stamp in the Literary Arts series in honor of William Faulkner.

Eugenio Florit

(1903-1999) Poet, playwright, critic. “Introduction To Spanish Poetry,” born in Spain. Moved to Cuba in 1918. Moved to NYC in 1940 as a representative of the Cuban State Department and lived in Brooklyn. Taught at Barnard College until 1969. Wrote in Spanish.
