Louise Fitzhugh

(1928 – 1974) Writer and illustrator of children’s fiction and young adult fiction. She attended Barnard College and also studied in New York at Art Student’s League and Cooper Union. She won many writing awards including the New York Times Outstanding Books of the Year citation in 1964 and the Sequoyah Award in 1967.

Bill Finger

(1914-1974) William Finger was born in New York City in 1914 and died in 1974. He was co-creator, with Bob Kane, of Batman and Robin.

Jeanne Robert Foster

(1879-1970) Poet. Jeanne Robert Foster was the pen name of Julia Elizabeth Oliver who was born in Johnsburg, New York in 1879 and died in 1970. She was an Adirondack poet who wrote two books. She also worked as a magazine journalist and as social worker.

Frederick Franck

(1909-2006) Sculptor, writer. Frederick Franck was born in Maastricht, Netherlands in 1909 and died in Warwick, New York in 2006.

(1912-2006) Economist, writer. Milton Friedman was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1912. He received a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He died in San Francisco, California in 2006.

Jurg Federspiel

(1931-2007) Swiss writer, journalist. Jurg Federspiel (J. F. Federspiel) was born near Zurich, Switzerland in 1931 and died near the border with France and Germany in 2007. He had spent about eight years in New York and his work was influenced by the style of the American short story.

Oriana Fallaci

(1929-2006) Journalist. Oriana Fallaci was born in Florence, Italy in 1929, and died in Florence, Italy in 2006. She lived the later years of her life in New York City. She lectured at Columbia University.

Elizabeth Fox-Genovese

(1941-2007) Historian. Elizabeth Fox-Genovese was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1941, and died in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2007. (1917-2003) Critic. Leslie Aaron Fiedler was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1917. He graduated from New York University in 1938. In 1964, Fiedler began teaching at the University of Buffalo. Fiedler died in Buffalo, New York in 2003.
