(1920-2010) Author. Sid Fleischman was born in Brooklyn, New York, and died in Santa Monica, California. He was a winner of a Newbery Award in 1987.

(1928-2009) Novelist. Raymond Federman was born in Paris, France, and died in San Diego, California. He taught at The State University of New York at Buffalo.

(Albert) Horton Foote Jr

(1916-2009) Playwright. Horton Foote was born in Wharton, Texas, and died in Hartford, Connecticut. After studying acting for two years in California, Mr. Foote went to New York where he lived, worked, and pursued an acting career.

Robert Stuart Fitzgerald

(1910-1985) Poet. Robert Fitzgerald was born in Geneva, New York, but grew up in Illinois. He was Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 1984 to 1985.

John Hope Franklin
