(1942-2008) Novelist. Michael Crichton was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Roslyn, New York. He sometimes wrote under the pseudonyms John Lange and Jeffery Hudson.

Jane Marvel Cooper

(1924-2007) Poet. Jane Cooper lived in Manhattan, New York, for many years. She was a professor at Sarah Lawrence College, and, from 1995 to 1997, she was the official poet of New York State.
