(1926-2014) Critic, memoirist. Charles Champlin was born in Bath, New York, and died in Los Angeles, California. He was a movie critic for The Los Angeles Times from 1967 until 1980, and also reviewed books.

John Curtis Chamberlain

(1772-1834) John Curtis Chamberlain was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and died in Utica, New York. He wrote a series of essays as The Hermit which appeared for a year or more in “The Farmer’s Museum” beginning in the summer of 1796.

(1930-2014) Historian. Riva Castleman was born in Chicago, Illinois, and died in Bridgewater, Connecticut. She attended the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.

(1928-2014) Editor. John Mack Carter was born in Murray, Kentucky, and died in Bronxville, New York. He had been editor of McCall’s, Ladies’ Home Journal, and Good Housekeeping.
