General Information
Description
Historical figures and time periods come to life through fiction, connecting modern readers to ideas, movements, and people in a way no textbook could. It is through story that we understand each other and learn about the people and worlds around us, but how do we begin telling the stories of the past? How do we select time periods, conduct research, and still work on a good story, too?
Join us at Botanica Books on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 1:00pm for a 90-minute workshop on writing historical fiction where writer and professor Khristeena Lute will guide participants on how to begin their own journeys in writing historical fiction.
Khristeena Lute is currently an Associate Professor of English at SUNY Adirondack in upstate New York where she teaches composition, literature, and writing center studies. She has received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creative Activity and the SUNY Adirondack President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her most recent publications include her upcoming release, Whippoorwill Sing (June, 2026); her debut novel, Finding Grace and Grit (2021); and “Katrina Trask: The Gilded Age of Philanthropy” (2023).
