(1911-2007) Librettist. Gian Carlo Menotti was born in Italy in 1911 and died in Monaco in 2007. He lived for many years in a house known as Capricorn in Mount Kisco, New York.

Ernesto Lecuona

(1895/96-1963) Composer, song writer. Lecuona was born in Cuba in 1895 or 1896 and died in the Canary Islands in 1963. Songs include, “Siboney,” “MalagueƱa,” and “Andalucia.” Lecuona’s final resting place is in the Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.

Westbrook Pegler

(1894-1969) Journalist, writer. Westbrook Pegler was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and died in 1969 and is interred in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.

Patricia Goedicke Robinson

(1931-2006) Patricia Robinson was born Patricia Ann McKenna, in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1931. She taught in the writing program of Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York. Robinson died in Missoula, Montana, in 2006.

(1860-1916) Poet. Frank Dempster Sherman was born in Peekskill, New York and attended Peekskill Military Academy. His home, from 1871 to 1887 was at 953 Paulding. He was the author of “Madrigals and Catches.”

E. D. E. N. Southworth

(1819-1899) Writer, Novelist. E. D. E. N. Southworth visited her son at 103 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers, New York. She wrote over sixty novels.

Augustus Thomas
