(1848-1916) Writer, poet. Eben E. Rexford was born in Johnsburg, New York, and died in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
(1931-2007) Poet. Alexander “Sandy” D. Taylor was born in Rumford, Maine, and raised in Glens Falls, New York. He taught English for many years, translated Danish literature, and published his own poetry. He and his wife were founders of Curbstone Press.
(1903-1940) Novelist, screenwriter. Nathanael West was born in Manhattan, New York and is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery in Queens, New York. In 1931, he worked on his famous novel “Miss Lonelyhearts” (1933) while vacationing in a cabin on Viele Pond near Warrensburg, New York.
(1837-1902) Novelist, historian. Edward Eggleston worked on two volumes of U.S. history while at Owls Nest, the estate near Lake George, New York. Eggleston died there in 1902.
(1822-1903)(EDMUND KIRKE) – Novelist. He wrote novels about the Civil War under the pen name Edmund Kirke. He died in Glens Falls, NY in 1903.
