(1896-1955) Dramatist, playwright, screenwriter, writer, editor of “Life” magazine (1924-1928). Robert E. Sherwood was born in New Rochelle, New York. Mr. Sherwood won multiple Pulitzer Prizes throughout 30s and 40s for his plays, biographies, and memoir “Roosevelt and Hopkins” (1948). Also, he wrote “Idiot’s Delight” (1936), “Abe Lincoln in Illinois” (1938), “There Shall Be No Night” (1940) “The Best Years of Our Lives” (1946), and “The Petrified Forest” (1935). Sherwood was a member of the Algonquin Hotel’s Round Table. He lived at 1545 Broadway in Manhattan, New York.
