(1861-1915) Short story writer, novelist. He wrote and published over 200 stories. He wrote “The Wreck of the Titan” in 1898, which had details so identical to the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, that it was seen as prophecy. He is one of America’s most known and accomplished authors on the subject of the sea. He was born on West 5th Street, Oswego, New York.
