Michael Benedikt was born in New York City and received his bachelor’s degree from New York University and his master’s degree from Columbia University — continuing on to publish his own work as well as his literary criticism. He received a New York State Council for The Arts Grant, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, and an NEA Fellowship in his lifetime.
