Bio

Mermer Blakeslee has published two novels, Same Blood and In Dark Water. In Dark Water was selected by Barnes and Noble for its Discover Great New Writers series. Mermer was awarded three New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships in fiction, the most recent in 2008. An excerpt from Digger’s God, her latest novel, won the 2006 Narrative prize from Narrative Magazine. Mermer is also a professional skier and her non-fiction book, In the Yikes! Zone: A Conversation with Fear, emerged from over twenty years of intensive work with fearful students. She was born, raised and still lives in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
