Ms. Angelou lived and worked for a time in New York City and lived for several months in 1965 in the apartment of friends Samuel and Constance Sutton on Riverside Drive near Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York, while she was writing her autobiography, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings."
