(1934-2014) Poet. Mark Strand was born in Summerside on Prince Edward Island in Canada, and died in Brooklyn, New York. He was named Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 1990-1991 and awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1999.
