Bio

(1897-1970) Poet, editor, critic. Louise Bogan was born in Livermore, Maine. She moved to New York City in 1920 and was for many years poetry editor for The New Yorker. While in New York, she met William Carlos Williams, Malcolm Cowley, John Reed, Marianne Moore, Edmund Wilson, and others. She was Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 1945 to 1946.
