Fiction writer, essayist, and prose poet, Jessica Treat’s most recent book is Not a Chance (FC2, 2000), a novella and collection of stories. Her first book, A Robber in the House, a collection of short-short stories, was published by Coffee House Press in 1993. “There is a joy in reading [A Robber in the House], the joy of experiencing superb writing by an artist who builds suspense and tension word by word,” wrote Ravina Gelfand in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. San Diego Union Tribune’s Seth Taylor wrote, “As she continues to blend dark humor with darker obsessions, Treat may find herself in a unique position among current women writers: lighter than A.M. Homes, darker than Lorrie Moore.
