Bio

ISHMAEL HOUSTON-JONES, whose improvised dance and text work has been, and continues to be, an important influence on postmodern performance, has had his work presented in New York City, across the United States, in Europe, and in Latin America. Recipient of a Bessie Award for live performance, Houston-Jones has also appeared on PBS and in the film, Brother from Another Planet. He has had essays and fiction published in Movement Research Journal, Aperture Books, an Mirage, among others. He has essays and performance text forthcoming in Footnotes: Six Choreographers Inscribe the Page.
