Bio

Helen Ruggieri taught in the writing program at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford, Pennsylvania. She has an MFA from Penn State and studied at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, with William Stafford. After spending a semester in Japan at Yokohama College, she became interested in Japanese verse forms – the haiku and haibun, especially. She has been actively publishing poetry for many years the first poem appearing in 1973 in the English Journal, the latest in the Prairie Schooner.
