Bio

Gerard Houarner is a Breton-American who has translated the dark and stubborn sensibility of his heritage into a career as a rehabilitation counselor, most recently at a state psychiatric facility. He has worked in the mental health/substance abuse field for twenty years throughout New York City. He is also a science fiction/fantasy/horror writer, with 19 Honorable Mentions in various editions of St. Martins Press’ Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror, and was a Finalist for the Horror Writers Association Bram Stoker 2000 Award for Short Story for “Dead Cat Bounce.” He has had over 180 short stories published in various magazines, anthologies and on-line, from both the small and commercial press, some of which have can be found in the collections, Painfreak, and in I Love You And There Is Nothing You Can Do About It. Previous novels include The Bard of Sorcery, and Road to Hell, which will be reprinted next year and issued from Leisure Books. He is also Fiction Editor for Space and Time magazine, and edited the anthology Going Postal.
