Bio

(1911-2007) Historian, writer. Frank M. Snowden, Jr. was born in York County, Virginia in 1911, and died in Washington, D.C. in 2007. Snowden’s family moved to Boston, Massachusetts when he was a child. He received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from Harvard, all in the field of classics. Dr Snowden was an authority of blacks in classical antiquity. At the time of his death, he was distinguished professor of history emeritus at Howard University where he had taught since 1940.
