(1916-2007) Critic, novelist. Elizabeth Hardwick was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and died in Manhattan, New York. During the 1970s and early 1980s she taught at Barnard College and Columbia University’s School of the Arts, Writing Division. She was married to the poet Robert Lowell.
