(1780-1840) Writer. “Sketches of Ancient History of the Six Nations,” one of the first works about Native American culture written by a Native American. The son or nephew or Nicholas Cusick, a chief, and brother of Dennis Cusick a painter, David published what is thought to be one of the first works about Native American culture written by a Native American. The illustrations in “Sketches of Ancient History of the Six Nations” are those of David and/or of his brother Dennis.
