Bio

Ayun Halliday is the author of seven books, including No Touch Monkey! And Other Travel Lessons Learned Too Late. She is the Chief Primatologist (and sole employee of the award-winning, long-running, hand-illustrated, handwritten zine, The East Village Inky (est. 1998). Her writing and comics have appeared in The New York Times, BUST, BITCH, Narratively, NextTribe and Open Culture, among other outlets big and small (mostly small, hooray!) Her next book, The Small Potato Manifesto, a guide to staying fulfilled, unresentful and alive for underrecognized artists, will be published by Microcosm in 2021. Ayun co-founded Theater of the Apes with her husband playwright Greg Kotis, and hosts its monthly series, Necromancers of the Public Domain, wherein a dusty long forgotten book is turned into a 1-Night-Only New York City variety show.
