(1901-1993) Writer. Ruth Krauss was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and died in Westport, Connecticut. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Parsons School of Fine and Applied Art in New York City. She was the author of many children’s books, and of verse plays and poetry for adults. She was a member of the experimental Writer’s Laboratory at the Bank Street School in New York City in the 1940s. She was the wife of Crockett Johnson.
