Bio
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Sharon Dolin was educated at Cornell University and U.C. Berkeley and holds a Ph.D. in English from Cornell. She is the author of 6 books of poems: Heart Work (Sheep Meadow,1995), Serious Pink (Marsh Hawk Press, Spring 2003), Realm Of The Possible (Four Way Books, 2004), Burn and Dodge (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2008), which won the AWP Donald Hall Prize for Poetry, Whirlwind (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2012), and Manual for Living (University of Pittsburgh Press 2016). She is also the translator from Catalan of Gemma Gorga’s Book of Minutes (Field Translation Series: Oberlin College Press, 2019) and a prose memoir Hitchcock Blonde: A Cinematic Memoir (Terra Nova Press, 2020). Her poems and translations have appeared in The American Poetry Review, Five Points, The Kenyon Review, Image Magazine, The Missouri Review, Poetry, Pool, The Iowa Review, Denver Quarterly, The Threepenny Review, and elsewhere. She taught poetry workshops at the 92nd Street Y’s Unterberg Poetry Center, Poets House, and several NYC-area universities and colleges, and was the Co-Founder, Coordinator. and Co-judge of The Center for Book Arts Annual Letterpress Poetry Chapbook Competition. She currently directs Writing About Art in Barcelona and is Associate Editor at Barrow Street Press. She is a member of PEN, Poetry Society of America, Poets House, AWP, Association of Literary Scholars & Critics, and is listed in the Poets & Writers Directory. She lives in Manhattan, New York.
