Ernest Hemingway stayed at the Brevoort Hotel, 5th Avenue and 8th Street, the Sherry-Netherland, 781 5th Avenue and the Barclay, 111 East 48th Street, now Hotel Intercontinental. He also owned an apartment at 1 East 62nd Street. In 1989 the United States Postal Service issued its seventh stamp in the Literary Arts series in honor of Ernest Hemingway.
