Bio
(1920-1993) Literary and social critic, writer, editor. “Dissent” magazine. Howe came from a Bronx Jewish background, and also attended the City College of New York in the Bronx. He was a frequent contributor to “The Partisan Review,” “The New Republic,” and “The New York Review of Books.” Critical works include “William Faulkner: A Critical Study” (1952), “Politics and the Novel” (1957), and “The Critical Point” (1974). Lived in Manhattan.
