(1896-1940) Writer. F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in Buffalo for nearly a decade, at 140 North Street. He stayed with his wife, Zelda Fitzgerald at the Algonquin Hotel and at the Plaza Hotel, 5th Avenue and East 59th Street. They also lived at West 59th Street and entertained H. L. Mencken, Dorothy Parker, John Peale Bishop, and Edmund Wilson. He lived at 200 Claremont Avenue, New York City, while working in advertising and writing “This Side of Paradise.” His most famous work is “The Great Gatsby”. In 1996 the United States Postal Service issued its thirteenth stamp in the Literary Arts series in honor of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
