Bio
Born to a Seneca father and white mother in Cattaraugus , his Seneca grandfather (Nicholas Parker was brother to Ely S. Parker) was his inspiration. As an anthropologist, researcher and well known writer Parker published a number of books (about Red Jacket and Ely S. Parker), including: “The Code of Handsome Lake,” “The Seneca Prophet.” Edward Cornplanter contributed greatly to its writing and editing and his son, Jesse Cornplanter, did the picture writing for the book. Parker co-founded The Society of American Indians and the American Indian Magazine, where he served as editor.
