Description
The Downtown Writers Center is Central New York’s only community center for the literary arts, and is a member of the YMCA National Writer’s Voice. The DWC is a program of the Arts Branch of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse, one of the country’s leading YMCA-based arts programs. Literary Series Profile: The reading series at the Downtown Writer’s Center features 20-25 visiting authors each year. Recent visitors include Charles Simic, Steve Almond, Sapphire, Minnie Bruce Pratt and BH Fairchild. Most readings are free and open to the public. The DWC also offers more than 60 creative writing workshops each year, with classes available for writers or aspiring writers of all experience levels.
