Organization Profile: The Italian American Writers Association Inc. (IAWA) was founded to promote the creation, publication and dissemination of Italian American literature, to encourage cooperation and free interaction among writers, students and others of all backgrounds engaged in Italian American and related literary activities and to foster an appreciation of Italian American literature. IAWA is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2016. Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its literary series every 2nd Saturday of the month. Readings begin with an Open Mic: IAWA-East is held even months at Sidewalk Café and IAWA-West continues at Cornelia Street Café on odd months. IAWA has also sponsored bilingual readings focused on Italian dialects and translations.
Activities: Online blog and newsletter, 2nd Saturday Readings and the Circolo Literario, an Online Poetry Circle.
Circolo Literario, Online Poetry Circle
